Neuromarketing!

One possible goal of neuromarketing would be to get customers to behave the way (advertisers) want them to behave. As a consumer how do you feel about this? Do you think advertisers should be allowed to control the way we behave? Why or why not? Can you think of a time when you or someone you know was greatly influenced to buy a product or do something because of advertising? Explain.
Personally, I think this is wrong. People have a right to behave how they want , keeping in mind that they have to be appropriate. I can't really recall a time when someone has been influenced to buy a product or do something because of an advertisement.

How do you think advertising encourage "wanting" products as opposed to "needing" them? Explain. Think of the past ads you have viewed and how one of them may illustrate want vs. need in a product.
They come out with all these different ideas and brain waves for new commercials whenever they create a product. Take an iPod touch for example. After seeing how foolish this girl is acting while enjoying the music on her iPod, it is bound to make someone want to buy one so they can see what they are missing.

Overall, what do you think of neuromarketing? Explain why. Would you lie inside MRI machines and look at pictures of products while the machine snaps images of your brain? Why or why not?
I would NEVER, in my right mind, lie inside an MRI machine and let the machine snap pictures of my brain while I look at pictures of products. Honestly, I think the weirdest things at the most awkward time, it might not even have anything to do with what I'm seeing. People would think I'm crazy and probably want to send me away!

Don't hate, appreciate!

I find this offensive because it is stating that in a crowd of hundreds of people, those people with AIDS stand out among the rest.

I find this image fairly offensive because it is basically saying that blacks are in control of the whites.

Who do you think benefits when advertisers use controversial issues and/or images in their ads? Explain.
I think the advertiser benefits because the add could be so shocking that the viewer cannot believe that someone would actually show it to the public so they continue to watch it and send the link to their friends and request that they watch it as well.

Do you think advertisers should be allowed to use sexually suggestive images in their ads? Give your reasons.
No, I don't think that they should be allowed because some people could find it really offensive and disgusting.

What do you see as drawbacks to using controversial advertising?
For drawbacks, I feel that using controversial advertising could stop people from viewing these ads and they could report the person for using such sexually suggestive or shocking images.

What do you see as benefits?
As a benefit, I think that they would get more views because if the advertisement were to appear online, the viewer would more than likely copy and paste the link to a friend to show them what they have seen.

If you were an advertising, would you use controversial advertising? Why or why not?

No, I wouldn't use controversial advertising because I would be scared to risk losing viewers and being reported for disgusting advertisements.

Controversial and Shocking Advertising

In my opinion, I think that the person who wrote this article made a good point by stating that the ads are just as controversial as talk shows and other advertisements. I never really watch television or anything so I don't see many advertisements, except for the ones that we were looking at in class and honestly, I could have gone without seeing what I've seen!

The Four Jobs of Advertising

Pepsi Commercial : This commercial is competing with thousands of other advertisements because there are many different brands of pop in the world. It is also showing the desire that this young child has for Pepsi because he went out of his way just to get one can by buying two cans of coca cola to stand on so that he could reach the button for the pop of his choice.

Chevrolet Commercial : This commercial is also competing with thousands of different advertisements because there are many different brands of vehicles in the world. It shows a certain desire and also reassures customers that this vehicle is the best option for them because it shows you just how much fun you can have and how long it will last you. It is persuading younger viewers that Chevrolet is an excellent option for them because it shows real life people sharing their stories of how long their truck had lasted them and everyone wants a truck that is going to last and let them have fun.

Doritos Commercial : This commercial really grabs people's attention because it shows a cute little boy and the tiny figure of a woman, which most men are attracted by. It is competing with tons of advertisements because of all the different brands of chips. It also persuades new customers that the product will be good for them because even young children love doritos and will not let anything seperate him or her from their chips.

Sham Wow : This commercial is reassuring because if a customer has purchased it, seeing this will let them know why they have and what the advantages are to it. It also grabs the attention of others because you can use it in your house or even outside on your car. It will also do an excellent job at convincing new customers that the product will be great for them because of the many different uses.

Blog Review

After looking at my blog "Motherhood at a Young Age" and searching other blogs, I found two that have some extras that I would like to add to my blog. One “A is for Amazing!” I like the music box on the right hand side. On the blog "Then And Now", I like the way that she has her name written at the bottom of each new blog post.
